Once again Goodfellow Contractors were contracted to demolish Marcos Leisure Centre in Glasgow. This was a technical job due to being attached to one of Glasgow's most prized and architecturally important buildings, Templeton's. Located opposite Glasgow Green, the first task we had to undertake carefully was the hand separation of the two buildings and to form a new gable wall for the Templeton building.
The contract became even more complex with the discovery of a swimming pool below the ground floor slab, in which the foundations and boiler room encroached into the Templeton building under its foundations by some 6 meters. Some stitch drilling 2 meters deep was used to carefully remove the under building ensuring the stability of the newly formed gable of the Templeton building.
The contract was completed 2 weeks ahead of schedule and on budget for Cruden Homes. |
